On 21 October 2000, Melbourne Museum opened beside the historic Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton Gardens.
OPENING HOURS Melbourne Museum is open from 10am to 5pm daily except Good Friday and Christmas Day.
ADMISSION CHARGES Included in the ticket price is access to all exhibitions and to the new and unique Age Theatre with its Interactive Cinema Experience. There are currently two programs, one called Vital Space and the other is SHARKS - Predator/Prey.
ADULTS $15, CHILDREN $8, CONCESSIONS $11 and FAMILIES $35.
Some
major touring exhibitions do have an additional admission charge.
GETTING THERE
Melbourne Museum
is located beside the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton Gardens,
between Rathdown and Nicholson Streets.
By car:
Underground car parking is available from Nicholson or Rathdown Streets.
By public transport: Take Tram 86 or 96 to Nicholson
and Gertrude St, the City Circle Tram to Victoria Street and follow the
signs to Carlton Gardens or the City Loop Train to Parliament Station and
follow the signs to Carlton Gardens. V/Line packages with rail travel and
admission are available throughout Victoria.

EXHIBITIONS and FACILTIES
Melbourne Museum is a
storehouse of ideas, promoting public debate on issues relating to the
natural environment, new technology, and other changes occurring in our
society. People outside Melbourne will increasingly have electronic access
to the Museum's superb collections, research, exhibitions and educational
packages. The Museum has excellent education and catering facilities, a
state of the art storage facility for the Museum's collections, a range of
performance spaces and a study centre called InfoZone to provide
information access for the public.
The Museum exhibition program has been launched in stages and is now
complete.
